Welcome to the New MichelleSandlin.com

Michelle Sandlin "Drums" ShootWelcome to my new website!  It has been a full year in the making, so I am very proud and excited to finally be launching it!  Of course, this will be a work in progress and I will continue to add to my portfolio of articles and other written work in the coming weeks, so please look for lots of new content soon.

I am also very excited to announce that my last official day as a corporate employee will be May 16, 2014!  After much soul searching and the incredible support and encouragement from my family and friends, I have decided to take the plunge into the world of self-employment as a writer.

I figured the time had come for me to follow my own advice and focus on the two things that I love to do most: write and play the drums.  Somehow, the two are not mutually exclusive.  They are both intertwined in my creativity, and equally important in how I express myself, as well as how I define myself moving forward.

Basically, everything I have been doing over the past several years has led to this moment.  And I think the writing has really been on the wall, literally and figuratively (if you’ve been following my Facebook Timeline).

Once again, I am writing this and planning the relaunch of my new web site on the eve of yet another birthday. This one is quite special, as it has a zero on the end of it.  BUT, not to worry, I am very comfortable with who I am at this very moment, and I believe that age is a mere number, and not a label.  You are only as old as you feel (and look!), and I am happy to report that I feel about 32!

So, after May 16th, I will spend my days writing (and playing drums).

Throughout my new website, you can expect to see lots of information, posts and links to my writing, as well as my drumming.

So that’s it!  New website and new career, and the confidence that I am ready to face this new decade with my unique blend of passion and creativity.

Thank you for following me!

  1. A big congratulations Michelle on this leap of faith. Very happy for you and glad that you are following your heart.

Believing that this will be a huge success., In fact, you were already a success.

This is just going to put you to the next level of greatness.

    1. Nice to see a female drummer living out her dream, and I see you worked for the Houston Chronicle, which I assume you live in Houston as well? I live just north of Houston right past Kingwood, TX…I have played drums off and on for 25 plus yrs, and at 39 I really started taking it more serious, and finally had more tie to devote to playing and learning more..now at 45 yrs young I have progressed a lot, and I also write songs, and play in a 3 piece band…and we’re working on a 5 song demo album..which I am mixing and mastering myself, as I have invested in recording gear, and software to accomplish this…I love mixing songs, learning new covers, and working on original songs as well! Maybe I can come check out you playing one day! Cheers, and keep on drumming and writing music!
