Local book lovers from multiple generations and members of the community had the opportunity to meet with award-winning authors Michelle Sandlin, and C.P. Landry. The two authors were excited to connect with readers and share their insights through their literature as they showcased their published works, “Cancer Don’t Care” and the children’s book series of Cajun Kids Adventures. Each of the written works uniquely reflect their personal experiences and challenges.
Author of “Cancer Don’t Care” Michelle Sandlin was accompanied by family members and friends as she met with local guests eager to get her personally autographed copy. As the title depicts, Michelle lays out that Cancer does not discriminate on who it falls upon. Despite living a seemingly perfect lifestyle – working out six days a week, avoiding smoking, drinking, and drugs – Michelle found herself thrown for a loop when she discovered a lump in her right breast. Days later she found herself facing a battle with cancer. In her memoir she shares her emotional and inspirational journey as she had to navigate through the fight of her life, undergoing multiple rounds of chemo, a double mastectomy, and a series of surgical procedures.
You can pick up a copy of her book for yourself or one to gift for someone you know by visiting Black Pot Bookshop located at 104 E. Landry Street.
On Saturday afternoon, the bookshop also welcomed Author C.P Landry who was happy to meet with fans young and old as he introduced the released volumes of his Realistic Fiction children’s book series. The Cajun Kids Adventures are loosely based on the author’s own experiences and challenges while bringing up his 5 children with respect to their Cajun heritage. The Adventure series are available in soft and hard copies, and appeal to readers between the ages of 8 to 14. You can find the first 4 volumes available at Black Pot Bookshop to take home and enjoy. Volume 5, the Watchmen is also available for Pre-Order at www.Cajunkids.com
